Stupid pups? Rayne took a few steps back and considered what the stranger could have meant with that statement. What pups had they taken in lately? The mother wolf tried to do a quick count in her mind....there was Kit and Shadow....those were the only pups which weren't born into the pack. The beta needed to speak with her alpha as soon as she returned.
She growled and paced a few times taking this moment as a learning experience. Normally she would have fought and killed an invader in their pack, but for some reason she felt this particular encounter did not warrant it. Rayne paced a few more times praying to Alpha and Beta that she was right.

Elk clopped nerveously through the brush. Her large opal eyes trying to see everything at once. There was so much wolf scent here. She flipped her tiny tail and moved on. A rabbit crossed her path and she jumped but settled quickly. Where were all the big strong Bucks when she needed them. Slowly she dipped her head and ate at the grass.

As Sigurd traveled from the den to the woods, he caught the scent of something interesting in the air. "Hmm... hopefully its dinner time." He thought to himself, keeping himself low and moving through the brush. "With so many scents around, I shouldn't have a problem masking my presence. Only problem is my dashing white coat." He thought, grinning to himself at his own joke.
Sigurd weaved his way in and out of the brush, trying his best to camouflage himself. After meticulously working his way through the woods, he finally came across the sight of the elk, watching it closely for any signs that his movement might have startled it.

Elks head lifted from her feeding and gazed around. Had she heard a crack? Was it that rabbit again? She moved nerveously to the side to look better. Her prey oriented eyes could see the green of the leaves and the gold of the sunlight but there didn't seem to be anything wrong. Her eyes turned onto a slightly lighter shadow than the others. She sniffed deep but couldn't smell anything different. She stared at the shadow, daring it to move.

Sigurd's one eye stared deeply at the two staring back at him. "This is one of the few things I love about life. The thrill of the hunt. That moment when you catch the prey's eye and they look at you without knowing they are looking at their own demise. Though I may not have a reason to live, this feeling always temporarily removes my sarrow." Sigurd dug his paws in, readying himself for the lunge, his muscles contorting tightly in all four of his legs and along his back, almost like the coiling of a snake as it prepares to launch itself. After a moment's pause, he launched himself like a white missle, barreling towards the elk's legs.

Elk screamed as the shadow moved and out of it a large horrible wolf! She tried to run but it hit one of her legs making her stagger. She dropped her forelegs on the ground and kicked wildly begging the grass gods to spare her of this fate.

Sigurd grinned like a devil as he hit the ground, rolling twice before getting onto his paws as quickly as he could, trying to save as much of his momentum as he could. He dug his paws in deep, crouching slightly before launching himself at the fallen elk, this time hurling himself at the elk's neck and sinking his fangs in deep, as he then pressed all of his weight down on the elk's side, trying to make it expend all of its air and suffocate it while it choked on its own blood.

Elk thrashed and fought but couldn't breath. Her life's hopes were being washed away by each point of a fang in the length of her neck. The white wolf was like a demon taking everything she loved from her. The feel of the grass beneath her hooves would no longer be a pleasure and the sound of a fawn would never grace her ears again. She closed her eyes and stopped her thrashing, directing her prayer to her murderer. End it quickly.

Sigurd noticed the fight fade from the elk, "I was hoping it would put up more of a fight..." He thought to himself before setting his fangs in deeper, shifting his weight quickly and applying all of it to her neck, snapping it like a twig. Sigurd removed his fangs from the wound and exhaling slowly, breathing the fire from his lungs before realising his error.
"How am I going to get this back to the den?" He said outloud, cursing himself for getting caught up in the moment. He sighed and proceeded to perfom the long and taxing task of dragging it back to the den. "Such misfortune..."

Misty arrives and sees Sigurd struggling under the weight of a freshly killed elk. She hurried over to him and playfully nipped his ear before turning to the kill. Why didn't you ask for help? Misty asked as she sunk her fangs into the dead elk and helped dragged it.

Sigurd release the part he was holding onto before stretching his neck. "What do you mean? I wasn't going to run back to the den and risk losing this kill. So I decided to dig in deep and drag it. It might take time, but I'll get the job done," He said as he bit back in and continued dragging, determination burning in his eye as he forced his strength into his muscles and continued the task at hand.

(Transitioning to The Den)
Sigurd pushed himself harder to get that elk to the den, his jaws aching from keeping their hold on the bloody splotch in the elk's neck. After dragging the prey several yards, he would stop and cover the tracks with leaves or sweeping at it with a mass of leaves.
After what seemed like an eternity of dragging his kill, he finally saw the edge of the den, grinning around the dead fur in his mouth. "Finally!! Almost there!" He thought to himself, redoubling his efforts to end this miserable calamity he had gotten himself into.

Revera yawned and tried to keep her eyes on the three rambuncious bundles of black. A smile wrinkled her nose and she jumped over all three to land in front of them and swept little Balo playfully with the end of her tail. I said stay between me and Miranda. Revera barked patiently. We're going to a beautiful place, but it might be a little bit dangerous so I need you to be careful okay? She sat and tried to check the scent trail for the next pass. There was a remenant there at least. She bounced off her haunches and followed the rapidly fading scent.
