Sadies ears pricked at the sound of a strangers approach. The wolf was making no effort to conceal herself from the two on the otherside of the river.
"Russle down." Sadie ordered.
Her heart was speeding as the wolf turned their way. Wolves chased foxes and ruined prey. They stole the land and filled the air with their insesent howling.
But this one didn't even growl their way. Either it was too busy or they were too unimportant.

(Godding) Russle growled at the strange wolf crossing their path. "That wolf is tresspassing!" The prickly pup yapped. "Let's go teach him what happens when he walks on Mountain Valley land!"
She charged forward loosing her footing once more in the swirl of the current. "Sadie help!" Russle yapped before the water rushed over her head.

Honestly
Sadie rolled her eyes and plucked the spunky puppy from the water. She tossed the wolf onto the bank uncaringly. "I came out here to fish and all I catch is sodden fur." The vixen growled.
She dropped to her stomach and pulled the wet pup to her chest. She licked the cold from the young wolf's russet fur. "You know what Russle. You don't know when to stand still. If it weren't for me you would probably be dead right now. Did you even think what that stranger would have done to you if you tried anything. A half a tails of water nearly took you down you think your a match for a full grown wolf."
Her teeth clipped in the pups half perked ears. "Don't be such a fool."

Russle winced against Sadie's chastisment. She felt so stupid, and brash. Truthfully she hadn't thought of what she would do once she got to the wolf. She just wanted to defend her land. Her pretty blue eyes glazed with embarrasment and she felt her tail hug her flanks.
What kind of leader would she be if she ran headfirst into everything.
"I'm sorry Sadie. I'm sorry I'm so stupid and so useless. Maybe I should just drown myself and let the fish take care of me. Being eaten is probably the only thing I'll be good at."

"Are you done?"
Sadie barked looking down at the pup with coldness. "Good. Now stop your little pity party and shake yourself out. We're getting out of here."
The red vixen stood with ears perked for sounds of approaching wolves. Where there was one rouge there were others.

"But-" Russle yipped then stopped. She wondered if she even had room to speak. What will Mom and Dad think? They won't be able to find me.
Gathering her courage the young wolf barked. "I want to go home. Mom and Dad need me, my sister needs me. Please help me get home Sadie." Russle whined. Her big blue eyes were wide and pleading.

Sadie snorted baring her fangs at the pups silly request.
"Why? So that you can be with another band of blood thirsty rouges? So that you grow soft and weak from the pressense of your 'Pack'" The vixen sneered the last word.
"Strength comes from necessaty. You'll never realize your full potential that way. Now come on."

Russle jerked back from Sadies request. She was confused and angry. She hated that her new friend was talking over her head like she didn't know anything. This wasn't right.
"If you won't help me then I'm leaving. I thought you were a nice wolf but your not nice at all." She growled. Her red fur bristled until she resembled a puff ball in the snow. Quickly she turned away dashing up stream back to where she'd come from.

Sadie snarled and leapt at the pup catching her between her black socked paws. "A nice wolf?" She barked incredulously. "I'm not a wolf at all you little flea bag and don't you forget it. I'm a fox. I'm not your kind nor do I ever want to be. You disgust me."
Her teeth found Russles throat. With just a little bit of pressure she could snap little Russle in half.
"I'm giving you your life pup." She growled against the red wolf's throat. "Make something of it and don't forget that its you against the world out there. No one really cares."
With that she shoved the pup away. "Go up stream. I'm sure they will find you there. Leave my sight and don't let me catch you again."
With that the vixen turned away. Her dark brush of a tail swinging lazily behind her as she disappeared.

Russle lay frozen in the dirt. Vaguely she knew that hot water was rolling down her cheeks. Her little paws trembled and she stared at the sky. Little snow flakes were dancing down to land on her face and whiskers. It was cold. Colder than she'd ever been and now there was no warm pelt to curl up to.
"I- I miss my Mommy!" Russles whine was weak with broken dreams and fear. She was truely alone once more. She was lost and alone in a world she'd only begun to understand. Shakily she rolled on he pudgy belly and looked to where Sadie walked away.
She had been so nice only to bite her neck and tell her she was worthless. "I'm not worthless." The little wolf growled. "I'm not weak and I'm not scared!" She howled hoping Sadie would hear her. "I'm not scared of anything or anyone! I am Russle of Mountain Valley. And I'm going home!"
Quickly she padded to the river. Going against the current to where she belonged. "I'm going home."
