Star bounced up and down excitedly. He tried to use his mouth-words so that he chant her name to the wind but all that came out was a dry heave. He whined and laid on the ground. The memory of his father's distressed face at the Shadow Keeper's den flashed into his mind.

Star watched as his name was slowly spelt in the dirt. He yipped with joy when he was finished. He leapt high into the air but slipped on his way down and landed hard on his side. Star let out a cry of pain and whimpered. Little tear drops falling from his face.
