(I don't know what to call it..)
Balor sat outside the den and watched the sun rise over the trees. It really was beautiful here. "Absolutely stunning." He whispered as the wind blew through his fur.

(That's fine).
The grey female made her way across the ledge to where Balor sat. She sat quietly, wrapping her tail over her paws.
Our territory is beautiful. she agreed.

Balor jumped as the Grey Phantom joined him outside. He hadn't even heard her silent approach. Instantly his debenaur expression filled his face. "Oh but I meant you Ma' Lady." He barked with a smirk. He cocked his head regarding her. her amber eyes were the same color as the sunrise. Her soft fur framed her face so effortlessly and bloomed into the strength and beauty she held with her always. "Absolutely stunning." He barked without a tease to his tone.

The beta quirked a brow at the male beside her.
You are a difficult wolf to figure out, Balor. But I thank you for your compliment, even if you are teasing.

He broke from his trance and blinked away. "Sorry Love, I'm a sucker for Orange eyes." He stood and stretched his legs and back, his fur bristling like a porcupine down his spine before looking at her again. "So why are you out here? Still babysitting?" He barked sitting with a thump on the ground once more.

The beta closed her eyes to maintain her composure. Are we going to be behaving like a smitten pup now? You're the Shadow Keeper's Head Beta, not...not some naive whelp. You've heard empty compliments before. She opened her eyes and glanced at him as he stretched.
Why else would I bother to be out here? For the time being, you are my responsibility.

"Don't you get tired of that?" Balor barked feeling his agitation rise again. "Your a beta. Not a babysitter. Why isn't an omega out here dusting my tail and making sure I eat all my prey?" He narrowed his eyes. "This isn't the respect you deserve Myria. Can't you see it?"
He paced a little away and looked out as the last of the starlight faded into the purple pink haze of day. "Don't you hate when there's so much potential in you but no one will give you the chance to show it?" He tucked his tail against his flank and shivered with his own subdued anger.

Potential? I'm quite happy as Head Beta. Besides, would you really listen to an Omega? Well...you would likely listen to Cashmere, wouldn't you? But if it were anyone else, you would just bully them so they would run away with their tail between their legs. If you want someone to know of your potential, you will find a situation in which you can show them, appropriately. the grey wolf felt her eyes soften at the clouds on the horizon were stained a light purple, and the now-melting snow began to glisten in the distance.

The black wolf chuckled, his eyes growing soft. "Cash, I'd bully her too. She's just too... soft to take seriously. Anyway, it is an omega's job... Myri-" He barked but closed his mouth instead. This gray beauty wouldn't care about his inner turmoil. She was here because the vixen told her to be. Nothing more.

Cash might be soft, but she's grown almost exponentially since she joined our pack. I still remember her first attempt at fighting...she couldn't even bring herself to bite her opponent. Balo...has been good for her. She's still gentle, but she knows how to be not-so-gentle when needed. the beta smiled, recalling the day Cash and Balo announced that they were mates.
Perhaps pupsitting is an omega's duty, but this pack means everything to me. I respect Revera, and I respected Rayne. I still do. Right now, my potential is set at the position I am in. Maybe one day I can advance, but not now. Rayne...Rayne was Revera's first Head Beta. After she died, the duty was passed to me as Kiba was...unfit. I worried I would be unable to fill her paw prints, but I realized that I didn't need to fit hers...I needed to make my own paw prints. I am not Rayne, and I never will be. I am Myria, and the pack respects me as Myria. There's no point trying to be something you are not.
Revera has yet to lead us astray. I trust her with my life. Perhaps if you were Alpha, you would act differently but...this land...we shed blood for it, Rayne died for us, and it is our future generations' legacy. Realizing she had been preaching, she shut her mouth and glanced away, focusing on the slowly rising sun.

Balor bit back a whine as if his father was still there to berrate him if he heard it. Make your own paw prints... That was something he hadn't heard. I'm Balor the Great, the legacy of Black Moon. The last...
"I envy you." He barked gazing at down at his paws. "How you can be so connected with everyone and everything and yet... still feel like you." His eyes narrowed to blue green slits as he fought back the urge to say something snide. To stop his walls from rising and blocking him once more. "I-I don't have that. I never did."

Myria glanced at him, surprised that he was not teasing, nor was he his usual arrogant self.
There's a secret to that, Balor. You just have to remember who you are, who you really are. There are days where I feel like I start to lose that...there's too much going on, or I've had a new burden put on my shoulders...but, I just pause and remember that even though I have responsibility, I am still Myria. What would I have if I was stripped of my status and no longer a Shadow Keeper? Myself. the beta shrugged.
Besides that, you learn to align your future goals to those of the pack, and...things work out. If they don't, you remedy it until you are back on track. It's not too late for you, you know. she winked to try and lighten to mood.

Balor sighed and shivered a little despite the warmth of the morning. "Yes it is." He barked turning his face to meet hers. "I already lost everything Myria. There's nothing left of Balor besides a smirk and a fang."
He shook his head brushing her whiskers with his without much thought. "Do you want to go hunting? I can't sit here like this."

The beta blinked, surprised at the brash male's closeness. She decided to keep still and allow the movement, if only to comfort him.
You're wrong. You haven't lost everything...you've got Kiba, and your niece and nephew back. And Cash. Maybe you will even have a new pack, if you place your paws correctly in the soil. She smiled.
Seeing as there isn't anything left of the deer, why not? I could use the exercise anyways.

"Oh that's right." He barked standing and stretching. "I don't want to over hunt the place. Maybe just a run then. You can give me a tour of the territory?" He barked with a grin bopping her shoulder with his. "That is if you can keep up."
