The fawn lifted his nose as the breeze shifted. He smelled something on the wind. Musky...like dogs? the little male knew danger when he smelled it, so he carefully began to look about. His mother was off in the forest....if he could run to her, she would keep him safe; she knew the ins-and-outs of the woods and they would easily lose the predators.
Wasting no time, he flapped his white tail, sending out a sent marking for his mother: she would know that there was danger near. Turning on his hooves, he bolted towards his mama.

The fawn felt its hooves thud against the grassy plains, dead debris flying out behind it. It's eyes were wide, the whites showing. The small ungulate turned his head, and he thought he saw something from his peripheral view. Run faster! Mama! the male let out a small bellow, and he inhaled his mother's scent flag; she was waiting for him.
Veering sharply, the fawn changed directions and zig-zagged slightly. The trees were just within reach now!

Cody followed his mate and the fawn towards bigger meat. His becoming powerful legs were making him run faster than his mate just slightly. He knew of the plan, not to pounce but to follow

How breath fanned the fawn's tail. The fawn bellowed once again, this time kicking out with its hind legs as it leaped through the air. It's back hooves slammed into something furry, but the little male kept running. That's what papa would do! He would fight! the male thought.
The little deer saw his mother's shadow as she turned and began zig-zagging through the tight maze of trees. Keeping up with her scent flags, the deer sprang past some low brush before trying to follow her pattern; she was far ahead, but her markings would guide him through the maze.

(Godding)
Cody felt the hooves kick him, he yelped slightly then shook it off and kept running towards the fawn.

The fawn's nostrils flared, but it kept running. The trees came closer; now was his chance! Gathering his muscles, the little deer leaped like his parents could, and managed to fly between two narrow trees that were growing together. Landing on slightly wobbly legs, the neonatal mammal kept going, his mother's scent flags guiding him. From his wide eyes, he could see that the monsters chasing him had been slowed by his last move...now it was time to lose them from good!
Just follow mama, then the herd will be near, and papa will scare them away! desperate hope filled his mind, and the deer veered slightly off course from his mama's guidelines, taking a more convoluted trail before exiting and returning to his mother's flags.

Glitter ran faster close to the fawn but not close enough to get kicked. Following the fawn and does scent was easy and with Cody by her side she was fearless.

Cody continued on with the chase with his mate. Now that the mother was there running, they're bound to have more than they thought at first

(Sorry for the delay!)
The fawn quickly weaved its way through another pair of narrow trees, just making it through the narrow gap. He knew the territory now...his mama had found the herd and alerted them of the predators behind him; he could smell their warning flags and their uneasiness.
I'm almost home! Almost! he had just cleared the last of the trees before he stumbled at his father's hooves; the large buck's nostrils were flared, but he backed away and lowered his head, the massive antlers on his head poised at the ready. His father nudged him backwards, towards the safety of the herd. Slowly, his father backed away as the monsters seemed to be approaching.
The small fawn turned and joined his mother, watching his father defend the herd; they would flee at his word only.

Glitter slid to a stop really close to the male deers antlers. she back up a foot or so she wanted her mate to make the first move so they could soon have some food.

Cody darted towards the stag and with the prey's head down, his antlers aiming at his mate, that gave him the disadvantage to pounce up and land on the top of the neck.
