(Revera cooling off)
Revera padded into the instantly cooler stretch of the lake. Her paws were positivly burning from the trek and she felt so dirty from being near all those King wolves. The sun flittered through the leaves casting brilliant sparkles on the shore where the dusting of sand had found its home.
She sat and lifted her leg to scratch at a tug behind her ear. It felt like a knot. Great, The alpha murmurred. When was the last time she'd properly groomed herself? It seemed her dips in the water were reaping her nothing but hair balls. She lay on her stomach and dug into the hard fur of her fore legs. Her teeth worked to break their mundane sticking and become the soft supple pelt she once knew.

Sigurd finally approached the lake, breaking through the trees panting hard as he stared at the clear water, lowering his head and drinking in long drafts before dunking his head in. He pulled his head out then jumped in, letting the cool liquid cleanse his fur and sooth his tired muscles.
Sigurd had no idea that Revera was there, his attention focused solely relaxing as he starte to splash about.

Revera looked up to the sound of splashing and noticed the ghostly pelt lingering without a head over the water. Sigurd? Revera barked to herself lifting partway to her paws. Yep that was him. The alpha grinned and sat up watching her friends comical antics. He must love the water as much as she did.
Revera yawned but didn't make her pressence known.

Sigurd swam out of the lake, walking up the shore before catching sight of Revera, his movements stopping as he looked at her. Embarassment caused his fur to bristle slightly. He shook his pelt clean of the water, trying to hide his embarassment as he slowly approached her with a kind smile. "I didn't see you there."

Good. You wouldn't have been near as entertaining The alpha joked while walking up to the white male. She could almost feel the burn of embarrasment heating up his otherwise cool fur. She had to admit it was kind of adorable. Did I look like that when I was in his paw steps? She smiled a little. An idea was forming in her mind and it was in action before she could stop herself.
I guess we both needed a break. I'm so sleepy lately She yawned and laid infront of him. The girth of her stomach covered his front paws. She let her head fall to her forelegs to hide her smile.

Sigurd looked at her, a soft smile on his face before he laid down with her on his paws. He nudged the side of her head gently before licking her ear. "I guess you could say I need a break. I had been chasing the old scent of a pack of elk. I figured that knowing where a good food supply is would help us to feed the bears easier."
Sigurd couldn't help but admire Revera's beauty as she lay on his paws, a fire igniting in his chest. "What is she doing, I wonder." He thought as he tried to calm the burning desire to be next to her.

Her ears perked at news of the bears. That's a good idea. We're going to need a mountain of prey to supply those brutes. Did you find anything?
The red female smacked her lips at the thought of prey. She wished the pack could hunt together but they never seemed to be in the same place for a good thing.
We need to arrange a hunt. We don't even have to kill them really, just get them into the place we want to keep the bears and let them do the dirty work. Of course we'd need to cull the group. Get out a few mates.
Revera's voice rose on that last word and she shook her head to clear it. It tasted strange coming from her mouth. We have to keep the herd going afterall.

Sigurd nodded, scooted closer to her before licking her muzzle affectionately. "I didn't find anything. The scent was old, sadly. But I think if I tried again, I could find something." He looked at her kind of strangely when she said 'get out a few mates.' What did she mean by that?
Sigurd looked into her eyes as he let his mind race with thoughts. "I've never been able to really express myself that easily.." He began to say, shifting his gaze nervously. "Thank you." He said softly to her.

Revera sensed his unease and shifted closer to comfort him. She wondered what was on his mind. Whatever it was it certainly wasn't elk.

"Thank you for making that adjustment to the pact..." He said, looking at her, a soft smile on his lips. "You've given me a reason to keep fighting. One I can't afford to just lay down and die over either. I've got to fight for that reason now. For the pack and for...." His words stopped briefly, shifting uneasily at how hard it was for him to really 'talk'.
Sigurd had kept his emotions inside and buried for so long, this wasn't something he was exactly used to anymore. "You." His last word escaped quietly, breathing out slowly as if he had been holding his breath the whole time.

Revera felt like he'd just thrown her headfirst into the lake. She'd finally heard what she wanted and now it was very possible she was looking into the face of her future but the future scared the daylights out of her!
Never had she had a mate that would stand by her. They were all cowards or she ran them off? She'd never let her emotions show through when either of her suitors ran out on her, but now looking at Sigurd...
She'd never been looked at like this. There was respect and honor in that gaze and... something she realized she'd never seen. Love? Was that it? That shine in his eyes that made her heart skip. That brush of his pelt that made her burn. Was that Love?
I'm the thing- the one, that makes you want to live? She was tensed to run but she didn't know wether from him or to him. What did she want him to say? Yes, No? She'd never felt more helpless than she did now.

Sigurd nodded slowly, his smile becoming slightly crooked as embarassment washed over him like a flood. "Yes.." He said quietly.
"Gods, what must be going through her mind right now? Does she think me weak?" He thought, trying to steady his nerves. She made him feel like life wasn't pointless anymore. Like he had a reason to be around, besides just helping her and her pack kill their enemies. She made him feel like he belonged, no matter how out of place he might look.

Revera let her body relax and looked at him. She had no idea what to say. She wasn't ready to say "Love." but she knew she did care about him and was so happy that he'd be alright. That he cared so much about...
Me..
A foriegn smile passed over her face and she licked his cheek. Moisture started to pool in the corners of her eyes but she let them. He'd shared something so personal with her, the least she could do was show a little weakness his way.
She nuzzled under his chin and growled gently. It was the only sound she could make through her happiness and confusion. Does this make him my mate? She wondered. The others had stormed into her pack and asked for vote. She'd never had one take an interest in her. What did this mean?!
She hid her face in his neck fur so he couldn't see her confusion. She had a chance at something amazing here and she didn't want her open book visage to ruin everything for her.

Sigurd's heart beat harder as she pressed her face into his neck fur. He had seen tears build in her eyes, and the smile. The answer to the question he had wanted to ask was apparent to him now. He rubbed his cheek against hers, placing a paw over one of hers. "You're the only one that I can truly show any emotions to.. I may appear as hard as stone when others are around, but know that this side of me will always be yours to see." He said softly, his eye shining brightly, full of life and spirit that had long been missing from that lone golden orb except when it came to killing.

How was it possible she could feel so alive without breathing? She struggled to take in a breath but felt to weak for even that. Her voice came out hoarse with emotion.
No one on this earth has seen me cry... and I don't want anyone else to know i even can. She pulled from the safety of his fur and looked into his eyes. You should know I'm damaged. I'm hard because.. I've never felt this way. I've never had a m- male, who could put up with me. I run them off and I'm sure to do it to you too but, these last couple of days have been so crazy with the war and the pack and you, especially you. Her voice grew as a half relieved laugh found its way into her speech.
I've never been so happy Sigurd. That smile was back on her face but it faultered as another tear fought to break her hold on her emotions. I don't want to run you off... I want you to stay. Her eyes fell to the ground and he bark barely a mumble. With me.
