Kiba slowed from his run, he'd put more than enough distance between himself and the two males, and now it was time for the real fun to start. coming to a small clearing he began jumping about and moving erratically through out a small area, covering the ground with his sent, by the time he was done a sizable chunk of snow had been crushed down under paw, and his scent had covered the area to the point that it would be nearly impossible to smell any other scents. Satisfied with his work he sprinted off into the distance out of the circle moving hard and fast, after a few minutes of running he changed directions and circled back to the area he'd covered in his scent. again he repeated this process, over and over till the woods was filled with his trails. They have to keep their noses low, and move slow just to get to this point. now they'll be forced to guess the route they think i took. And thats where the fun starts. with that he moved off creating the last trail away from the area as he moved perfectly through his web of trails.
(alright guys here how this works I've set up a little map of trails i made on my end and numbered them 1-15, so that means there are 15 total trails to choose from. put the number you picked in the top left corner before you write anything else and then continue role play as usual . It's just to tell me what route you take. you don't have to go together if you don't want to. choose wisely)

Ky trotted along, keeping his movements light and silent. His red fur carried a little of the snow with his nose close to the ground. When he stopped and hunched over a bit.....there were scents everywhere.
Ok...
Ky closed his eyes and inhaled taking in the wind as it shifted. No luck there and the snow had captured a lot of Kiba's scent. Ky tilted his head this way and that and turned to Kovu We are at a cross roads. It would be faster to split up and track him on our own, but he is also bigger than us so finding him solo wouldn't help much. Do you want to stay together or break off?

Kovu stared around, his nose catching the scent of Kiba all over. He looked to Ky. I vote, stay together. That way, if he attacks, we'll be able to defend ourselves. Kovu really did not want to say that, but it wasn't as though he had a choice. He paused and then shivered once. Besides, have you seen the size of that male? He's huge!

(sorry this has been taking so long you two i've been waiting for chase to come and for you two to pick a path but lets continue on! )
Kiba moved silently through the woods which was now covered in his sent. he was nothing more than a shadow moving through the snow covered woods now. pausing on his path he waited for the gentle breeze to sweep past him, a faint trace of both males was carried on the wind telling him the direction in which the pair were coming. still down wind, looks like this will be easier than i thought. with a smile playing on his lips he changed course. these two needed to know what it would be like to face an enemy with experience well beyond their years.

Ky stepped forward cautiously, he didn't know this area or what traps could be set for them, but standing around wasn't helping their position.
The red wolf sniffed the air, he wasn't catching anything new...
He remembered lessons he had learned from his old pack. If you were hunting and the trail suddenly disappeared, then either the prey had gone over water or they were....
Ky's gaze turned left, He must be down wind of us. Let's try to circle around.
(I vote path 7)

(Path 7 it is)
Kovu nodded and then silently made his way through the thick trees, trying to pinpoint which were the older scents and the fresher ones. This is going to be hard. Kovu muttered, keeping his senses open for any unexpected move.

(path 7) nice choice you two ) Kiba moved with a slow ease along his path, the two young wolves had taken their time in choosing a path, something he was slightly impressed with. most would have simply chosen at random and hoped they got it right, however these two not only seemed to consider their choices but had also decided to stick together. something he'd been hoping they would do. they have good instincts. good they'll need them to survive this winter. His movements slowed as the scents direction began to change, they had finally moved, headed down wind in an obvious attempt to catch his scent. a clever move to say the least, but there was little need to worry. judging by the scent and direction they seemed to have taken there were a few options left to him as to the outcome of this exercise. with that he moved off towards path 7 and the areas he'd scouted out. (alright you guys from here out it's cat and mouse. i've set my characters location, you guys will have to set the scene as you continue, this is to help you guys learn to describe the environment and world around you. feel free to add in details about what you see and can use to an advantage. by doing so you can create a stronger chance for a better outcome. the more detail you provide the better we work together so don't hold back.)

(this is kind of cool ) Ky sniffed the ground, trying to keep his steps soft which was difficult in the deep snow. His golden gaze took in the trees, they were all too tall and too slippery to climb up and more than anything he wanted to get a higher view. A black wolf that big would stand out in the snow...or at least that is what he hoped. Ky shifted his gaze until he saw a tree which appeared to have been struck by lightning at one time, splitting it down the middle until a stump rose about five feet up. Ky looked over to Kovu, I'm going to try and get a higher view. Cover me so he doesn't appear out of no where and tackle me from the side, ok?

Kovu looked over at Ky and nodded. Sure. Let's get to it. He muttered, knowing that the wind wouldn't carry his soft voice. As Ky worked his way up the stump, Kovu's golden eyes peered around, searching for the monster of a black figure that was Kiba. He kept his ears perked and his breath steady, his nose shifting through all different sorts of scents.

[Hmm, why don't we continue anyway? You still up for it, my man? ] Kovu's golden eyes scanned the area, the grounds filled with Kiba's scent. How this guy managed it was beyond Kovu. He looked around, standing still and making his breath low enough so he couldn't hear it. All was silent, except for the gentle chiming of the wind and Ky's rustles as he got onto the broken stump. Anything, Ky?
