Lykaios comes back to the den after a long absence but then falls into illness just a few feet away from the den.

Reveras ears percked at the sound of wolves calling. can it be? She stuck her head from the den to listen in on the voice. Its familiar tones lent wings to her paws. Kiba! get up everyone. Kiba and rayne are back!

Rayne and Kiba limped through the entrance of the den, their fellow pack mates jumping around excitedly; audible relief thick in the air. His powerful body was so heavy that it made Rayne's legs shake with the effort though she would have carried him for days if need be.
They walked further back into the darkness of the cool den. There, she gently eased him down in their normal spot. Turning to Alira she asked, Love, could you please go to the lake? Take a large leaf or a thick strip of bark and bring back some water for Kiba.
Her eyes turned back to her mate and the plethora of wounds he had collected. She laid down beside him, licking the scabbing blood with impossible softness.
He smiled at her, tail sliding up to rest on her own. Rayne stopped tending to his wounds and glided closer, resting her head on top of his. She closed her eyes, allowing him to be lulled by her strong heart beat.
She would wait until Alira or someone from the pack returned with water and food before proceeding to heal him. For this moment though, she just wanted time with her mate. Licking his ears softly, she began to hum gently, treasuring the feel of his breath against her fur.

Revera bounded to her betas but dare not touch either as Rayne set Kiba down. He was worse than she would have expected and to have made it this far home. Her mind flew to the stories of Legend. Kiba of the Black Moon Well he was certainly something. You'll be fine Kiba. Alira's getting water and I'm going to find Miranda. That medicine wolf was always drifting off into the woods. A spark of fear lit in the alpha's eyes before she quelled it. Nothing had ever happened to that sweet little omega and it seemed nothing ever would. She was like a forest nymph. There one second and gone the next. Revera dipped her head over the patchwork of wounds running up and down Kiba's shoulders. She licked gently and began to wash the dirt and debree from the stubborn rips. You're going to be fine. She whispered.

Lykaios opens her eyes slightly and slowly walks over to Kiba and whispers hoarsly welcome home, both of you

Revera cocked her head at the warriors harsh tone. Now real fear was leaking through her paws. Was she sick? Gently Revera rose from her position at Kiba's side and motioned to Nightshade to follow her.
Hey are you okay? You don't sound so good. Revera barked when they were out of ear shot.
Instantly her eyes fell on the half eaten caunche by the den. Kiba must be starving She paused a moment from Nightshade and pulled over the leg close enough to entice him to eat.
If he doesn't take that then something is very wrong.

Kiba lay there comfortably with his eyes closed next to Rayne though he had many aches and pains he couldn't have cared less. he was finally back where he belong. and he wasn't moving for a long long time.
suddenly his nose twitched. he lifted his head up quickly and began looking around his attention drawn by something he remembered that made his mouth water. ELK! he paused for a moment to try and contain his excitement. not wanting to disturb his mate he quickly belly crawled forward and got within range of the meat ahhhhhh finally no frogs! no bugs! real meat, real meat! with that he dug in taking huge chunks of the meat and savoring every bite.

Kiba lay there eating the meat as quietly as possible. afte consuming all that he could he. looked back at Rayne peacefully resting just a short distance behind him. He smiled as she lay there. he knew that his little trip had put her through a lot but he also knew she had never given up on him. i swore i'd be back for the birth of our pup. i wouldn't let you down like that finishing up he limped back to where she lay and moved close to her. i'll do my best to make sure that something like this never happens again. but you know if it does i'll always return.
turning to nightshade he say they aren't the best and not much can beat elks meat pauses to think except maybe moose. they taste better than pretty much anything else

Rayne smelt meat on the air and smiled with the noise of her mate eating his fill. He would be all right. Kiba may have been a legend to the outside world, but to her, he was the strong shelter from any storm, the warmth for the coldest night.
She was about to raise her head to nuzzle him when suddenly a sharp pain erupted from her uterus. She yelped quickly feeling a stabbing burning pulsing through it.
Kiba....it's time!
