Rayne waited on her haunches, her tail wrapped around her sleek body, crystal eyes fixed on the wood line while she waited for the adolescent male to approach.
This little punk thinks he is good enough for my daughter? We will just have to see about that.....

Ky came out of the shadows following the black female. His golden eyes took in her threatening frame and noticed that Kiba was no where to be seen. He wondered if the large male was watching from the darkness or hadn't arrived yet.
He walked out and sat in front of the beta, What can I do for you Rayne?

Rayne let out a low growl from her throat, I want to know what makes you think you have what it takes to be my only daughter's mate. I've noticed you watching her ever since you arrived, but it appears you have made a move without asking myself or my mate first. So, little one, what makes you think you are worthy of Luna?

Ky regarded the female wolf's question carefully. A variety of smart ass remarks came to mind, but he sensed this was not the time to get on her bad side.
The mahogany male responded simply, I'm not good enough for her. No one ever will be. The fact that she agreed was more surprise to me than anyone else. Luna is an exceptionally brilliant wolf in so many different aspects. She is beautiful, kind, feisty, honorable and has a keen sense of hidden power within her. By all rights I shouldn't even be allowed in the same breathing space as her.
Ky watched Rayne for a moment before continuing, But if you are inquiring why I believe I could be her mate, the answer is simple. She doesn't need anyone to protect her, but I will. She doesn't need anyone to comfort her, but I will. And she doesn't need anyone to love her...
His golden eyes caught her blue recognizing that in time his own Luna would look very much like the female before him, But I always will.

Rayne's eyes widened slightly, she wasn't expecting an answer like that. But her blue eyes were filled with scrutiny, Pretty words, but what makes you think that I should believe them?

Ky tilted his head, this was a loaded question so he wasn't going to bother with an actual answer and his smile curled at one side, I was hoping you thought I had an honest face....

Ky shook his head stunned. Damn she is good. I'm in big trouble if Luna finds out that she can do this too!
The male wolf cleared his throat, I'm never going to be good enough, I know that, but it isn't up to you or Kiba if she is with me. It is mine and Luna's decision. I would like your blessing, but I don't need your permission. I'm going to be her mate and give her more love each day. I don't need your permission for that.

Rayne snarled and in a blinding fast motion, she leapt from her crouch and tackled the smaller male to the dirt, pushing so that he dug in a bit. She bared her fangs and snapped at his face.
Her eyes were dangerous, her muscles taut, but just as she was bringing her powerful jaws down as if she were to end it, she instead whispered, You're right. You don't need our permission to love her, but mark me Ky....do anything to bring my daughter pain and you will feel much more than just my fangs. Both Kiba and I will take turns ripping your carcass apart. Keep that in mind.

Ky wouldn't deny that he felt a surge of surprised intimidation at the large female on top of him. Her fangs glittered and he knew she was more than capable of ending him when she wanted.
Ky was an experienced warrior, but he was investing his time and heart into the daughter of legends, this was expected. Instead of fighting back, Ky simply nodded replying, There would be no time for your fangs. I will have finished myself off for hurting her long before you do. But the message is received.

Rayne nodded and released him, Good. Now unless my mate has anything to say to you about his daughter, you are free to go....just remember to watch your affections Ky. Just because she is your mate doesn't mean I want to see my daughter used in a vile fashion.
