Luke caught sight of the watcher speaking with his mate. If Talia was panicking then nothing was going to get through to her. It was one of the traits that made him doubt her when they were enemies. "The dens are pretty high. We could slip everywhere." He barked crossing over to the females.

Talia jolted as her mate jumped up beside them. She heard the wolves talking of the den and smiled. "There's a path up to the large one. Everyone follow me!" She howled pelting towards the hidden path with the pack at her paws.

Kit's ears pricked and she spun around. "Talia, stop! You'd be leading them all to their deaths!" SHe shrieked. There was mud that side and far too steep. If the wolves would be climbing it up through the mud, they would all fall down. Kit had seen the path but she had seen another, longer and safer one. "TALIA!" Kit howled, using all her power into her voice. "STOP!"

Talia felt her paws skidding as she hit the canyon walls. Behind her the pack was wavoring, thundering to get out of the large bowl and trampling one another in the process. She couldn't hear Kit's howl but wasn't able to keep her hold on the wall. "Turn around." She barked only half of the wolves even caring. "We can't make it. Turn!" A few wolves slipped off the edge down the two foot drop. A few yelps but nothing major. The dusky female dropped along with them landing on her paws in t water. Above a few stubborn wolves were fighting the path high above. She prayed they would be safe. She prayed they would make it.

"Don't you think I'm trying!" The alpha snapped. It was almost to the point where she would have to swim to keep on her paws. "What would you have me do Watcher?!" Her pelt prickled with fear. Voices? She could swear she head Jasmyn's voice in the waters. Talia Come home.. Leave this place. Join your mother Talia...
"Don't listen!" Dorian howled pulling from his broken crags of rocks. His coat was thick with water. "This is what I meant. It's not a flood!" He howled. His eyes sparked with the blue light. "Listen to the Keeper. She knows all!"

"Look over there, Talia!" Kit shouted over the roar of waters. " Do you see that boulder? The water will lift you onto it then you guys can scramble up. Hurry before you're stuck. The currents are strong and you get only one chance." Kit turned to the old Watcger. Dorian, come with us!

Talia nodded catching sight of the bolder she'd never hoped to reach before. She hadn't even thought of it. "Everyone! Line up. We can make it up this bolder Come on!" She tried to move forcing herself to fight the ever heightened current. A high cry of the wolves above made her flinch. She watched the black wolf fall from the edge and hit the water with a slap. That wolf would not rise again.
"Come on!" She pushed Luke forward and threw her up to Kit. "Your the tallest. Go first."

Kit winced as the black wolf Coal fell into the fast moving currents. "Talia, you bring them up and I'll get the others into the mountain cave!" Kit yelled. "Luke, help her!" Kit scrambled away from the dangerous edge and turned to the frightened wolves. "Follow me and don't hesitate. One second hesitation will cause you your life. Come on!" Kit yelled as she ran towards the dangerous sharp boulders at the foot of the mountain. The mud threatened to push her against the boulder if she paused. Kit took a deep breath and took a flying leap as sheneared the boulder. She scrambled on the painfully rough boulder and waited for the wolves. "Jump and don't hesitate!"

Talia nodded and reached out, catching the scruff of the closest wolf Miko as he was falling. She pulled him up nearly throwing herself under as she pushed him to the den. "Go Miko get up there." She howled. The gray white wolf pulled away from her alpha and leapt toward the rock. Her claws scraped the boulder barly clinging on. Her eyes sought Kit's begging for help.

Luke howled catching the attention of the other wolves. "This way." Those who were fighting for position on the ledge fell down into the deep water. He was thankful there were no pups this season, otherwise this would have been that much harder. The wolves were beggining to gather but Miko was still clinging desperately to the stone. With a mighty leap Luke bashed his body against Miko's lower legs shoving her up onto the rock. He landed submerged under the water and fought his way back to the ever higher surface.
"Kit, the wolves can't jump out of this water. Theres nothing to hold onto! Wait a moment." The gray brown wolf swam around the rock to the thick roots running the edges. He snapped his teeth around the roots to keep him steady. "Alright." He mumbled. "Use me. Everyone up!" One at a time the wolves leapt upon their alpha's back. Some sparing prayers and thanks each time he was pushed under the deep water. Each time he came back up spluttering for breath as he sacrificed himself for his family.

Talia watched her selfless mate offer herself to her pack with a growing dread. Everyone was throwing him under. He couldn't hold himself like that forever. Already his breathing was being comprimised. "Luke." She crawled over to her mate and ducked her head into the water coming up under his throat and holding him up as much as she could. His weight waterlogged plus her fight to keep afloat was exhausting her. She glanced through the water catching her mates eyes. Hers glowed with determination. we can do this. Together.

Kit couldn't pull Miko up because the female was scrambling too much. When Luke pushed her forward, Kit nudged Miko forward. "Go up there, Miko. There's only one path that'll lead to the den. Go. NOW!" Kit ordered. As Miko dashed off, Kit turned to help the others, her bright blue eyes determined. He'll survive this, Talia. Don't fear or doubt this. He will survive.... As the last wolf climbed ontop and made a dash for safety, Kit turned to Luke and Talia. "Talia! Hop onto Luke's back and come on up! Luke, hang on for a bit, the water will rise and you'll rise with it. Be careful and catch onto the rocks otherwise you won't make it!" Kit yelled.

Talia looked up at the watcher fearfully. Her dusky gold eyes locked on the Keeper wolf then down toward her mate. "I love you." She whispered before hopping onto her mate and up the rock.
She scrabbled toward the path after them and gathered with her family. "Where's Luke?" Miko barked as Talia met them. "Did he make it? Coal drowned. My mate drowned!" Talia winced at Portia's calls. "Luke." She murmurred desperately. "Please be safe."

Luke spluttered as once more he came up for air. His heavy breathing only slightly soothed by his mate's touch. He knew she wouldn't leave him. She loved him, and trusted him. That was why she had to be the one to make it out. As the last wolf besides her ducked him under and scrabbled up the path he met her eyes. Go. His eyes said. "I love you." She replied as she mounted his back and prepared to jump. His body sank and her weight was gone.
Water streamed from his mouth and nose with a burn. His eyes watered. The water was only growing higher. Luke.... Luke don't fight it. You belong here.... He scoffed at the suge of the water and kicked his paws to churning. The water would do nothing to him. As he unlocked his jaws another thought crossed his mind. Dorian! His eyes ripped from the blue of the the watcher down toward the water. He could see the old male now. It's watery pelt swaying in the flood. The rain was slacking now. Had they taken him? Was this what the water wanted?
