The legend of Alpha and Beta is one passed on from generation to generation. They are the creator gods and valued in all aspects of pack life.
The following is the story of Alpha and Beta.....
Before Earth or Sky, Night or Dawn existed there was one wolf. His coat glowed with a golden ambience and his eyes burned with the power of his pack. He was one of many golden wolves that fought day and night. All wanted to be Alpha of their land and non could live while the other ruled.
One day our male attacked the oldest and strongest among his brethren. A fight such as one not even the warring wolves had ever seen soon ensued. With a mighty snarl the elder wolf threw the younger male so hard that he flew through the sky only to land in a world of pure darkness....
When the wolf awoke he saw that his coat glowed and shook it roughly. The sparks of his fur took to the sky and lit all the corners of the world.
The golden wolf stood and looked around his new land. There was no grass or trees, rivers or valleys, just empty rock and blank sky. The wolf grinned to himself. "Here I shall be Alpha. With non to challenge me!"
The wolf, now known as Alpha, took it upon himself to explore his new world. Where ever Alpha went the light grew brighter. It took twelve months to trek this land. Twelve months is a life time for a pack wolf and he was growing restless. Huge hills and grotos sprang from his agitated paw marks.
He scratched and scratched until blood sprang from between his furry toes. Where the blood dripped sprang a prickled green brown weed. Alpha was so pleased he ripped his paws and spilled his blood across the landscape. The green was so pleasing to his eyes but it was a short lived Love.
Alpha found himself talking to a star. He would climb up his mountain as close to the speck of light and howl. His songs made the star grow brighter and brighter. One day after his song he gazed upon his star. "I wish there was something in this world to hold your beauty. If just for a moment."
Suddenly the star burst from the sky and filled the hole Alpha had dug with sparkling crystal water. Alpha hurried to the lake. It's very waters smelled of star shine and he knew it was magical. With a prayer of thanks to his star he dipped his nose and lapped the cool liquid. The taste was so sweet to the touch that he drank as much as he possibly could though the more he drank the lighter the sky became until to his horror the star was whipped out!
Fearful and sickened Alpha stared at the water. He knew his star was there. It's power was in the water. So desperately he padded belly deep in its waves. Bring it back! Alpha howled. Bring it so close that it can never leave me again.
Suddenly the water began to boil. Alpha watched as a figure rose from the depths of the lakes taking on the delicate curve of a muzzle and the thick coat of a long silky tail. A silver wolf such as Alpha had never seen appeared from the waters. Instantly Alpha was in love.
The silver female padded over the water and stepped onto the land. Instantly it flowed with lush green grass and the waters pooled down mountain paths and winded into the huge grotos to cover the world. Not only that but mice burst from corn seeds and deer bloomed from the trees. Rabbits, cats, bears, all manner of creatures suddenly filled the world and the silver wolf stood smiling over it all.
"Who are you?" Alpha asked humbly. He'd never felt so amazed by anyone. The silver wolf turned her liquid eyes to Alpha. "I am Beta. Your song was lovely."
These two wolves went on to breed all the wolves of the world but when their pups had grown and had pups of their own they knew their time on this land was over. Together they walked back into their starlit pool and ascended to become what we know as the sun and moon. From the sky they watch over us. They bless us with pups and with food. They ask for nothing but you to remember them and to send their pups home with a howl of love to the moon trail....
