(after all that craziness)
Revera padded on the shore. Her paws sunk into the gravely snow making her feel heavier than she remembered. Her tail tip twitched in annoyance. She was always so light on her paws and now she felt like a boulder.
"Oh well," The alpha barked sniffing at the glassy edge. The water was sealing itself away in a thin sheen of ice. Nervously she stepped out on the glassy surface hearing its moan in her ears.
The glassy water shattered weakly wetting her pretty paws. The water was sweet and freezing as it ran down her parched throat.

(Shortly after Revera arrived.)
Sigurd's paws sank into the soft cool snow, a smile on his face. The cold between his pads brought back memories. "In a heavy blizzard, I'm the ghost that walks this earth." He said to himself, his mind traveling back to all of the duels he had in the snow. His loss of an eye made his remaining one sharper, allowing him to see the slight difference between colors. Like the off white color of a wolf's fur compared to the white wall a heavy snow creates. However, his depth-perception was impaired, making his judgement in distance questionable. As he padded towards the lake, he crouched low, blending himself into the snow with a grin.
Sigurd stalked through the trees to the lake, spotting Revera's red pelt like a pulsing beacon. He moved slowly along the snow-covered ground, letting his paws fall gently. He stopped some feet behind his mate, his usual goofy smile taking up the lower half of his muzzle.

Revera licked her lips as the sparkling drops slipped down her chin. On heavy paws she hunkered next to the lake unaware that her mate stood not far away. She smiled softly gazing out on the glass. It was so pretty. The setting sun spattered the red gold light across the lake. She wanted to chase the fire across the ice and send it dancing under her paws.
"I love this place." She murmured.

Sigurd admired his mate's beautiful pelt in the setting sun, his smile turning from a goofy grin to that of a soft smile. His displeasure of her leaving without him slowly dissipating like the rays of the sun. "So do I, my Love." He said softly, moving to stand beside her.
He sat beside her, his tail drifting over hers, resting on top of it.

Revera jerked in surprise at seeing Sigurd but his soft smile relaxed her own. "What are you doing out here?" She barked nudging his leg so she could get between his front paws. His warmth sent shivers down her spine. The alpha burried her nose in Sigurds soft white fur.

"I woke shortly after you left. You kicked a bit of dirt in my face." Sigurd said with a grin, allowing her to nestle in between his fore paws. "You should have woken me. I would have gladly come with you." He said as he ran his muzzle along her's gently.
"The setting sun really brings out the color in your fur, and your eyes." He said softly to her.

the alpha blushed and bopped her mate's chin. "Oh stop it. I'm nothing against that." She barked looking out across the lake again. Her paws itched to run it.
Too risky. Must think of the pups.

Sigurd licked her ear affectionately. "Yes, you are. The sun accents your natural beauty perfectly, making you shine brighter than it ever could." He said softly, watching the sun lower into the horizon.
"Miranda has been around frequently. Is something wrong?" He said, looking down at Revera.

Revera's ears pinned as she looked up at her mate. Her sigh billowed in the frost air. "I don't know. Miranda said it would be a few days, but Rayne says it should be much longer and I keep hurting. I don't know what to think or do." The alpha admitted quietly. "Did you- your first mate ever have these problems?"

Sigurd licked Revera's muzzle gently, "She and I only had a single pup survive. She was in pain the entirety of the birthing experience. The rest of the pups that were birthed had no life. But it made our only son that much more precious.." He stopped, finding himself drifting off in the river of his memory. The images of his son playing in the snow filling his thoughts. It had been so long since he had thought of his son or his former mate.
"I worry heavily about you.. I'm afraid for you and the lives of our pups. I'm afraid the Gods may curse us with a still litter because of the atrocities I have committed in the past. Revera, I'm honestly scared." Sigurd said, looking down into her eyes with his single golden orb.

Revera watched the sad memories swim in her love's eyes. She licked his scared muzzle softly thinking of the pack he left behind. He loved his son so much. She knew he would love these pups the same way.
"They won't be, Sigurd. I feel them kicking all the time. They are alive! and they can't wait to meet you. I don't know about your gods but mine would never curse such an honnorable wolf as you."
The pups inside jumped as if in emphasis of her words. She moved closer to him pressing her stomach against his side so he could feel them. "See? Our pups are going to be beautiful Sigurd." Her honey eyes locked with his. "You don't have to be scared Love. We are together. Nothing can hurt us. You have to believe that."

Sigurd smiled softly as he looked into her eyes, feeling the pups move inside her. "They are strong. And they will be quite the little bundles of energy and fur. Heh, they'll probably be fluffier than me. I believe in us. The look in your eyes reassures me, my Love. Nothing will hurt us." He said with a gentle laugh, looking up as the last rays of the sun disappeared behind the hills and mountains in the horizon.
"We should get back. Its going to get very cold tonight." He said, sniffing the air.

Revera nodded brushing her mate's chin with her muzzle. "Agreed. Let's get going." She barked. With the sun light dying behind her the alpha turned to the den. Back to where her pups would be born.
Her twinging stomach made her wince but she held it at bay and moved on. The sooner to the den the better.

Sigurd smiled, licking her muzzle. He walked beside her, allowing her to lean against him if she needed him. He wouldn't let anything happen to her.
