The black wolf sighed as she didn't meet his eyes. "That's okay, you're a rose. Thorns come with the package." He barked as he moved ahead of her and down the path toward the watery zone.

Myria heard Balor sigh. What was that for? she questioned mentally. Shrugging, she hurried to pad after him, her eyes keeping watch of his gait. The last thing I need is to have him collapse.

Balor felt the cool touch of the waters splash against his pads. He sighed and dipped his nose into the cold water and lapped the icy liquid down in his throat. With a shake he padded on into the stream. It's waters only running up about as far as his hocks in a steady stream.
"It's rather thin heere!" He barked feeling his back paws lock up and his padds slipping from the river rocks below. His hip went down hard on the smooth rocks bringing a half clipped yip from his throat. " Damn..." He growled to himself.

Myria had been sniffing at the rather cold water before she saw Balor slip and fall, his rump in the running water. Concerned, Myria splashed through the water before pausing at his side.
I think old bears of wolves should not be playing in waters with currents. she noted dryly, her eyes full of humour.
Are you alright? I know you injured yourself...well, I injured you when I fell on you. I'll get Miranda to inspect you when we return to the den.

The black wolf gave a pained smile to the concerned female. "but bears love to play in the water." He joked forcing his hind legs back under him. "I don't want to bother your healer. I'm sure I'm fine." the black wolf huphed trying to stand.

Myria's eyes narrowed as he brushed off his injuries.
I'm sure you're not fine. Miranda has been restless lately, it would do her some good to see a patient. If I have to bite your tail, I will make sure you see her. Stubborn bear. she huffed as she helped steady him, the cold water swirling between their legs as it traveled further downstream.

Balor glanced up to the high cliffs and winced. "What's your plan for dragging me up there with my tail intact?" He asked as he dragged himself out of the current. The water holding onto his thick black fur with a vengence.

The grey female glanced upwards, her keen eyes searching.
If we're lucky, there might be a deer path of some sort...one that zig-zags up...it would be less stressful on your injury. Besides, you can always lean on me. she swished her tail at him as she scented the air. Hmm...there has to be a path somewhere...

Balor's pride winced as he thought of leaning on her. A Black moon doesn't show such weakness. Then again... He watched her search out the path and sighed. The water was casting a ghostly reflection on the water. Only a silohette of the beauty before him. It's almost worth milking it up just to get close to her. Father would be ashamed... "I'll let you lead." He barked laying down next to the wall and placing his head on his paws.

Myria nodded absentmindedly. Finally, her nose scented damp earth amidst the rock. There! Finally. I should have known. She padded towards some thick foliage growing near the water. Behind it, a rock and dirt path lead upwards in a gently slope. It was littered with debris, and there was a slippery patch here and there, but it would be their best bet.
I found it. If you're ready to head up, we can get out. One paw before the other. she smiled as she padded back towards him. He seemed lost in thought, so the beta waited.

After a moment the black wolf lifted his head and looked up at Myria before working to find his paws. Heavily leaning on Myria he managed to get his footing. "Sorry about that Rose." He grumbled inhaling her scent before trying to pull away and minorly failing.

Easy there. You know, just because you're a Black Moon...or known as "the Great"...you are allowed to be weak sometimes. I might not know too much about you, but Kiba allowed himself his weak moments...I know you aren't Kiba but... she trailed off for a moment. Well, I guess I was trying to say that I don't think anyone would view you as any less of your bear-wolf self. She concluded as they began the slow ascent up the mountainside.
She managed to move Balor about so that he avoided all the vines and slippery areas as they moved in companionable silence for the time being.

You have no idea. The raven pelted wolf thought as he dodged another dripping puddle of vines and muck. He was happy to have someone with him, even if he was sure she didn't want to be here. She's just doing her job. She's a good beta, even a great one. This pack is lucky.
As he walked the words of his old pack filled his ears. It's okay to cry. He froze. A female voice from his memories. His pelt prickled as her voice spilled through him. Settle love its okay. It's okay to cry. She was never in his thoughts or memories. She was barely in his life. He couldn't see her, didn't even know her name but her voice was there. "I love you ma boy. Stand strong. Your Black Moon."

Eventually, the pair crested the path, the wood's treeline greeting them.
Are you alright? Sorry...you must have been lost in thought...I just got worried since you aren't normally so quiet. she smiled, wanting to see the bear smile again. He looks so much better when he smiles...like he isn't carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Maybe...maybe one day I'll find out more about him. It's better to not push him now. she concluded.

"What?" He barked flicking his ears in surprise. "Oh, yes, I'm-I'm okay." He barked looking out toward the tree line. "Looks like your the one who found the path up and down. You should mark this place to show your alphas later." He advised as he sat.
