Balor flicked an ear at the strong sunlight spilling over the rocky hills and down the path. The roar of the falls coated his grumbled words with its own drawl. He didn't mind really, there was nothing he needed the beautiful gray wolf to hear.
Softly he padded on until he was past the shelf and gazing back at the den and its protective waves rushing down the hillside. "Such a beautiful place." He barked aloud before turning to Myria. "Have you ever been down the hillside where the water is?" He asked with a cock of his head.

Myria had followed after Balor, her eyes scanning for any traces of a threat once they cleared the rocky shelf.
Down by the water?...No, I haven't. I never bothered to attempt to find safe passage down. she stated as she eyed the rushing falls.

"Exactly." The black wolf barked shaking out the last remenants of his bath. "No one else would either. It's worth finding out if its useful. Don't you think?" He barked looking down at the dark depths of the craigs below the falls.

The grey female pondered for a moment, her analytical mind digesting Balor's words.
Yes, I suppose it could be useful...a potential escape route, perhaps. It would be good to have another one, with so many wolves in one place. She nodded.

The black wolf smiled and touched his nose to the ground. His blue and green eyes seeking out the tell tale cracks in the rocks that would suggest another shelf or pathway down. His paws slid over the gray brown ground and found the dip a few feet away from where they stood. The path was thin though, treacherous. He sighed and looked over at Myria before gazing back down.
"Should I try?" He barked without looking away.

The beta cocked her head as she observed Balor sniff the ground. When he found the path, she glanced over the edge, feeling wary.
I don't doubt that you can handle yourself, but...isn't that a bit thin for...your size? Your paws are not exactly small. she furrowed a brow as she glanced between the path and the massive male. The rocks were fairly dry, but Myria was sure that they would become wet and slippery as the rocks traversed downwards with the falls.

The black wolf chuckled. "I'm light on my paws when I want to be. In the canyons there were a few paths like this. Over all the wolves made it down but if you panicked or got em wet you were dead..." He barked with a sigh. Tenativly he pressed his fore paws down on the thin rocks. He could feel it falling away under his paws and pulled them back.
"Nope, can't make it that way." He barked pacing the edge. "But.." His eyes landed with a spark on a thick tree root ripping from the ground and down to a thicker ledge. "That could do it."

I never knew that you were so observant, Balor. Myria noted as a smile lit her face.
Well, canyon-dwellers first. she barked as she chuckled.

His tail wagged at her praise for his eyes even as his mouth went dry. I sure hope I'm not too old for this. The black wolf trotted around to the root and gazed down. A tails length to the root and two wolves down to the shelf. He took a heavy breath and leapt down to the root.
For a moment his paws hit the slick vines and felt himself falling. Instinctivly he bit down at the roots underpaw as he slipped only hanging from his jaws. Blood welled between his fangs and he continued to fight his way down to the shelf. Finally he felt the damp rocks underpaw and let go of the biting vines.
"I'm fine." He barked gazing up. He couldn't see Myria but he knew she was there. Probably preparing to jump too. Did she see me? The vine is slick. I need to be ready if she needs me. "Be careful coming down."

Myria heard Balor's bark from below, and she felt her muscles clench in fear. Maybe there is a reason he is known as the Great...
I won't lie to you...I honestly am uncertain if I can make that as smoothly as you did...or at all, for that matter. she barked out.
Stop being scared! You're a beta, this should not be an issue...if only I didn't mind leaping...my paws prefer the solid ground. Myria shook her head to shut her thoughts down before she paced for a moment, eying the vines warily.

Balor heard her bark from above and licked at the rips in his jaws before stepping closer to the vines. "Don't worry Rose. I'll catch you." He barked placing his front paws on the gray green vines. "You can do it."

Myria huffed, the warm air exiting her nostrils in a rush.
Alright...I'll try. She barked out once more. Taking a calming breath, Myria leaped, her paws leaving solid ground. The female kept her eyes trained on the root despite feeling her stomach rise to her throat as she felt herself descending rapidly. Her paws instinctively scrambled, but slick vines greeted her black, roughened pads. As her jaws neared the root, Myria snapped, her teeth clamping onto the root.
She resisted the urge to wince as her own body weight jostled her, sending pain to her jaws. She felt herself hanging in the air, but she knew it was at least another drop before she would reach the shelf and Balor below her. Now what? If I let go, I will fall in an ungraceful heap, if I'm lucky.

Balor felt his stomach drop as she leapt into the air. He was terrified for her! Quickly he backed up underneath where she would fall. He laid down across the path and clamped his eyes shut as he prepared for her weight. "Drop. It'll be alright!" He barked trusting alpha and beta to hold their combined weight on this shelf. "You'll be alright."

For some reason, Balor's voice seemed so sure...she couldn't help but trust him. Mountain...if there was ever a time for you to be immovable, it would be now. Myria slowly relaxed her jaw, the root sliding harshly against her teeth as she continued to descend. Her paws scrambled against the vines, and she practically whined as the root ended.
She felt like she was floating for a moment, before her rump connected with thick fur and heavy muscle. Her front paws hit the shelf next, and she gave a soft grumble.
I told you I wouldn't land gracefully. she mumbled as she spit out root bits from her jaws. As if realized that she was still sitting atop Balor, the grey beta got to her paws before examining her companion.
I hope I didn't hurt you...I'm not sure if I managed to slow myself or not. she eyed him, her ears flattened sheepishly.

For a moment the black wolf couldn't breath as her weight descended on him. He huphed into his chest before grinning up at the female. "I'm fine. Are you okay?" He stood and nudged her jawwith his nose. She wasn't bleeding near as much as he had been. Good, I at least saved her that. A large ache filled his chest from her fall but he ignored it and rested his head next to hers as if stealing some of her strength and adorable sheepishness from her deep amber eyes.
"Your cute when you think you hurt me. You know that?" He barked with a soft grin.
